The Rules
1. All events carried out in game must be delivered to the masses in media format.
2. All Pokémon used within the party must be caught by the Trainer playing the Game. Traded and gifted Pokémon with the exception of the Starter are considered to be inadmissible. Any team found to be using Pokémon brought in from an external source are considered to be immediately forfeited.
3. All Pokémon captured must be given unique names in the interest of creating a sense of care for the Pokémon in question.
4. The Trainer may only catch the first Pokémon they encounter within a given location, with locations being denoted anytime the name of the place changes. Ie. Route 2 and Hau'oli Cemetary are considered to be two separate locations. Failure to catch this first Pokémon, ie. Golisopod's Emergency Exit, or if the Pokémon faints, is considered to be a death. As such the Trainer may not catch anymore Pokémon within that location.
5. The Trainer may never flee from a battle regardless of situation or extenuating circumstances.
6. Should the Trainer have more than six Pokémon that they have caught, they may switch between these captured Pokémon as they like.
7. Should a Pokémon on the Trainer's team faint, it is considered dead and must be released into the wild.
8. Should all of the Trainer's Pokémon faint, or should they have no more Pokémon, their game is considered over.
9. The Starter Pokémon must be randomized through the use of the Trainer ID. The final numeral in the Trainer ID equates as follows: 1 - 3 Grass Starter, 4 - 6 Fire Starter, 7 - 9 Water Starter, 0 - Trainer's discretion.
10. The Master Challenge must be undertaken from the very start of the game, and the Trainer may not use any other external sources or media in order to aid or facilitate their gameplay.

Episode #1 – A New (Old!?) Arrival
Returning to Alola again in this manner wasn’t something that I had anticipated. Sure, I’d been inside of Ultra Worm Holes before, but never had I heard of someone being sent back in time. It just wasn’t something that happened so far as I’d heard or read during my time at the Aether Foundation.
My body felt sluggish, and my vision swam for a moment as my brain adjusted to the sudden switch up. In front of me was my computer, and on it was Professor Kukui giving me a very familiar welcome. It was easy for me to tell from the onset that this was the very moment where he and I had first come face to face. It was evident that he didn’t recognize me, and for a moment I felt my heart rise in my throat.
Even as my vision fixed itself, my eyes began to water at the loss. The Professor Kukui in front of me now had no recollection of our battle right before I’d been crowned the first Champion of the Alola region. Choking down my feelings, I forced my brain to focus. Now wasn’t the time to get all sad and sloppy.
Having finished his long-winded speech, Kukui had signed off and I was left to my own devices. My head swimming, I made my way over to my bed and lay down, closing my eyes so the rolling sensation in my stomach could tone itself down. My mind was racing with thoughts about my current circumstances.
Yes, I’d be smart enough to notice the shift in time, but it lined up a little too well with the words of the Master.
“You’ll find yourself in a time both familiar and unfamiliar to you,” croaked the mental image of the old man within the recesses of my mind. “When you are there, you must find the Keys. The Keys are your only means for victory.”
As I mulled over these thoughts, I could begin to feel my consciousness drifting, and in no time at all I found myself falling into a deep sleep. When next I woke my mother’s Meowth had leapt onto the bed and begun to make his claws familiar with my favorite shirt. Swearing to myself, I shoved the Meowth onto the floor and made my way to the main room of our home.
“You know, you didn’t have to shove me,” growled Meowth in a dignified voice. “You could have just set me down like a civil human being.”
I glared at the cat Pokemon over my shoulder. “Maybe next time don’t shred a perfectly good shirt then. Flat face.”
With the haughtiest sniff a Meowth can give, he set about liking his paws.
Rolling my eyes, I stepped out to the balcony to find my mother. Even now it was hard to believe that she had ever lived anywhere other than Alola, what with her tan and the floral sundress she wore. Everything about her made it seem as if she was perfectly suited to her new environment. It was eerie seeing her like this; out of time.
No sooner had I opened my mouth, that a sharp knocking could be heard at the door. Knowing the task would fall to me I made my way to the door only to have Professor Kukui throw open the door and enter my house with a startling gusto.
I remembered this, I found myself thinking. This was the first time that we had met face to face. And knowing Kukui …
“We should go and see the Kahuna about getting you a Pokemon of your own,” said Kukui with a roguish grin.
His words snapped me out of my reminiscence. My own Pokemon. I still remembered my Decidueye with a strong fondness, perhaps he would be the champion of my team once more.
“Why don’t you put on a change of clothes first though,” asked my mother, noting the slightly shredded nature of my shirt. “I got you a new hat to keep the sun out of your eyes as well.”
“Hey, that sounds pretty cool,” chirped Kukui in the voice that adult’s use when trying to hype a child up about something that is veritably incapable of being hyped.
“No thanks Mom, I think I’m good for now,” said giving her a sheepish grin and a short laugh.
“How about you just go and try it on then,” said Mom in yet still a more forceful tone of voice.
“I really don’t …”
“Now.”
I pursed my lips into a flat line and gave her a wide eyed and glare before returning to my room. Opening up one of the countless boxes that littered my room, I finally managed to find the clothing she had been talking about. Depressed, I fit the cap on to my head and gave myself the once over in the mirror. I looked like an idiot.
Muttering to myself I walked out to much applause and fan fair from both my mother and Kukui. From the look on the Professor’s face, even he regretted having encouraged me to put on the hat. Nevertheless, after giving mom a peck on the cheek me and Kukui set off to see Kahuna Hala.
While we walked towards Iki Town, I discreetly lobbed the hat into some tall grass. However, there was a dark part of me that knew, it wouldn’t be the last time I saw that hat.
